June: National Safety Month

National Safety Month

It seems as if every month is dedicated to something silly. April is National Humor Month, July is Anti-Boredom Month, but June is a month dedicated to something extremely important: SAFETY!!

The Highchair Organizer knows the importance of safety (especially in the highchair), so we wanted to dedicate this post to just that.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, nearly 10,000 highchair injuries involving children under the age of 5 occur each year. Falls are the most common type of injury and are caused when a caregiver has left the room, assuming that the child is safe in the highchair. The most important thing while using the highchair is to never leave the baby. The Highchair Organizer makes this very simple, because everything is right at your fingertips!

In addition to using The Highchair Organizer, here are some guidelines to follow while your child is in his or her highchair:
• Always use the highchair’s seatbelt and crotch strap
• Make sure you lock the tray into place
• Keep the highchair at least 12 inches away from the counter or table when your baby is in it
• Do not let your baby stand up in the highchair
• Do not let other children climb on the highchair

What are some other safety tips to follow while using the highchair?

For those of you who do not know, The Highchair Organizer is an Atlanta, GA based business founded three years ago by mompreneur, Abraxas Abrams-Pickens. The award winning Highchair Organizer was developed after Abraxas found parents leaving their babies unattended in the highchair while they retrieved a mealtime item. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, highchair accidents involving children under the age of 5 result in over 10,000 injuries each year. Falls are the most common cause of highchair injuries and usually occur when children are left unattended. With Abraxas being a mom herself, she knew something could be done to practice better safety while using a highchair.

The Highchair Organizer is a patent-pending product that attaches to the back of any highchair. It stores everything parents need to feed baby at mealtime so baby never has to be left unattended while parents retrieve a mealtime related item. By using The Highchair Organizer, parents can reduce the risk of highchair injuries.

The Highchair Organizer is safety tested, CPSIA certified, and the winner of several awards, including the 2012 Winner of the StartupNation Leading Moms in Business Competition and the 2012 Winner of the Parent Tested, Parent Approved Award (PTPA).

The Highchair Organizer is currently sold in two great colors – pink and green.
